‘A strong No.9’ – Manchester United star reacts to Rasmus Hojlund’s impending arrival with glowing review

Christian Eriksen was asked about the impending arrival of his fellow Dane to Manchester United – Rasmus Hojlund.

The 20-year-old is expected to arrive at Carrington in the coming days after the Red Devils agreed a £72 million (including add-ons) package that sees Hojlund make the switch from the Serie A to the Premier League.

It came after numerous weeks of United chasing his signature and even proposing a players-plus-cash offer to Atalanta, though that was swiftly rebutted as they were adamant about overseeing a cash-only transaction.

Hojlund has certainly given supporters a lot to look forward to for the forthcoming season even if his goalscoring talents could take some refining, as he is young and eager to succeed at the club he was desperate to join.

He also arrives after several years of United signing forwards in their 30s, bringing a breath of fresh air to those that have sat through the likes of Odion Ighalo and Wout Weghorst.

Eriksen on Hojlund

Simon Peach quizzed Eriksen on Hojlund’s impending transfer to Old Trafford, with the two having already shared a pitch while representing Denmark.

The midfielder responded: “He’s a strong number nine, he’s developed a lot in the last year from when I first saw him with the national team in a year’s time so yeah, he’s a very good player.

“He’s a nice guy – a good player like I said,” Eriksen continued. He’s developed, turning into a nine which he’s played for   national team. To be honest, I haven’t seen that many games for Atalanta but I know how they play and he fitted in well there. He’s a good player.”
