Working hard on pre-season with Facundo Pellistri

Facundo Pellistri knows pre-season is all about hard work and preparing for the upcoming campaign.

The Uruguay international has been involved in pre-season campaigns with the Reds previously – the last two summers to be precise – and he spent last season with the club rather than going out on loan.

Pellistri represented his country in the 2022 World Cup last winter before making 10 appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side in the second half of the 2022/23 campaign.

It was a good opportunity for Pellistri to work closely with Ten Hag and it remains to be seen what next season holds for him. Assurances from Ten Hag would be a huge bonus for the winger, but it remains to be seen if the Dutchman will take a punt or loan him out. No matter where Pellistri plays his football, 22Bet review has all the markets you need to try your luck.

“Being here in a tour, it’s very important because pre-seasons are the time when you have to prepare for a whole season,” said the 21-year-old during an exclusive interview alongside teammate Alvaro Fernandez.

“Of course, we are training so hard, sometimes too much! But it’s very important because that’s the only way we can achieve big things.

“If you don’t train hard in pre-season then it’s impossible. We are training very hard, and trying to have fun.”

Pellistri also knows what it is like to go out on loan after enduring two loan spells with Alaves in La Liga during his time at United. Although the temporary switches didn’t quite work out, they still developed Pellistri as a player and he has grown from it.

There has been more speculation in the press about his future, with suggestions Argentina outfit Boca Juniors are interested in signing him on loan for the season.

And, from previous loan deals, Pellistri has also assessed the differences between the Spanish and English top tiers, as he targets more domestic outings for the Reds next term.

“Going to La Liga, in my case, was a good experience because it helped me to develop a bit more as a player and to understand more [about] how European football is.

“Now I’m looking forward to playing in the Premier League, the best league in the world. So, of course, loans are good.

“Here in the Premier League, it’s more dynamic. But experience is very important and you gain different types of experiences, that then you can put together and improve.”

The tours with United have helped him understand the club’s reach across the world, too.

“When you go away from home, you see all the fans every time around and outside the hotels, outside the stadiums, and you realise how big United is.

“It’s important for me to sometimes to leave home to go somewhere else and see all the fans United have everywhere. We are looking forward to play these matches for all the fans that live here in the United States.”
