Manchester United confirm 31-man squad for US tour

Manchester United are taking 31 players to the United States for pre-season.

The Reds have two wins from as many matches since they started pre-season against Leeds. Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Lyon was the final outing before the squad travels to the US ahead of Saturday’s game versus Arsenal.

Other games in the US will see United face Wrexham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

New signing Mason Mount is on the plane after making two appearances in a Red shirt since joining from Chelsea.

However, one player not going to the US is Fred, who has been linked with a move away from United this summer.

There’s four goalkeepers heading across the pond – not including Andre Onana, who has yet to be announced as a new signing – and there’s no place for Matej Kovar after his strong performances against both Leeds and Lyon.

According to ManUtd.com, a personal issue has kept Fred in the UK, but they claim he is expected to join up with the rest of the squad at a later date.

United also have two players ruled out of the tour due to injury, with Rhys Bennett and Tyrell Malacia staying behind in Manchester to undergo a recovery process.
