Ryan Giggs escapes retrial as prosecutors drop charges for domestic abuse

Ryan Giggs is no longer facing a retail after charges against him for domestic violence were dropped.

The former Manchester United star, 48, was accused of assaulting Kate Greville on November 1, 2020.

In turn, Giggs denied coercive or controlling behaviour against his ex partner and assaulting her sister.

There was also acquisitions made against Giggs for attacking Kate’s sister Emma Greville on the same date.

In what is a developing story, The Guardian have run a report on how a judge abandoned the charges ahead of a planned retrial on 31 July.

This means Giggs will not face a second trial on charges of domestic violence, after jurors were unable to reach verdicts in his first trial last September.

Giggs turned to management when he retired but he stood down as Wales manager in 2022 after a period of leave since November 2020.
