Flamengo express interest in Alex Telles ahead of likely departure from Manchester United

Alex Telles doesn’t have a bright future at Manchester United.

There’s already two left-backs ahead of him in the pecking order, and Erik ten Hag has a decision to make on whether to send young Alvaro Fernandez back out on loan.

Luke Shaw is our primary left-back and Tyrell Malacia is a good back-up option.

Considering how far down Telles is in the pecking order at United, a permanent move away from Old Trafford would make sense for all parties concerned.

According to Brazilian newspaper O Globo, Flamengo are ‘interested’ in signing Telles.

The Brazil international spent last season on loan at Spanish side Sevilla, winning the Europa League, and he is surplus to requirements at United.

Furthermore, when asked if he would sign for Benfica in a recent interview, Telles explained that it would be difficult due to his connections to FC Porto.

United sent Andreas Pereira on loan to Flamengo two years ago, but the Brazilian outfit were unable to find funding to sign the midfielder on a permanent deal.

Interestingly, Telles did not report back to Carrington for pre-season training on Saturday. I would be shocked if he was part of the squad for the upcoming tour of the USA.
