Barcelona star’s agent claims United tried to hijack move with bid ‘close to €100m’

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly tried to hijack Vitor Rique’s move to Barcelona this summer.

That’s according to his agent, anyway.

Fabrizio Romano shared the comments made by Andre Cury where he claims that the two Premier League clubs submitted bids ‘close to’ €100 million [£85m] to try and sway the 18-year-old away from the Camp Nou.

However, their attempts seemingly failed, as Roque will complete a £26m move (£52m including add-ons) next summer ahead of the 2024/2025 campaign.

Barcelona complete Roque deal

The 18-year-old has quickly made a name for himself as one of the hottest prospects due to his performances for Athletico Paranaense, which led to him being awarded his senior Brazil debut back in March.

Reigning La Liga champions Barcelona have included a £428m release clause in Roque’s seven-year contract so, hopefully, he enjoys living in Spain, as no other clubs will be testing the water anytime soon!
