(Video) Reds hero insists Manchester United have made a ‘positive’ first signing of the summer

Manchester United are moving quickly in the transfer market this summer, with Erik ten Hag potentially landing two of his main targets before the start of their pre-season tour.

Andre Onana, the Inter Milan goalkeeper, is believed to be closing in on a move to the Reds, with journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano providing an update on the situation earlier on Sunday.

Should the Cameroon international seal the deal as expected, he will replace David de Gea, who put an end to his 12-year stay at the club earlier this weekend.

Onana would follow Mason Mount through the doors at Carrington – the famous midfielder was United’s first signing of the summer as Ten Hag continues to bolster his squad.

Mount’s arrival has split opinions among the fanbase but the general consensus is that he is a quality addition to an already improving squad and that has now been echoed by United hero Andy Cole.

“It’s a positive signing, of course it is,” Cole told Sky Sports on the arrival of Mount, as seen above.

“Fingers crossed everything works out really well for him. He had a difficult season last season at Chelsea, he didn’t play as many games as he would have liked.

“I’m hoping that he can come to Manchester United and enjoy himself (and) try to bring Manchester United to the next stage they need to be at.”

Mount is set to be on the plane next week as the Reds jet off to the United States for their pre-season tour and if Ten Hag has it his way, he will have added at least one more summer signing.

In addition to Onana, United are also believed to be making headway in a deal to make Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund their new star striker.
