Atalanta set to sign striker as Man United keep pushing for Rasmus Hojlund transfer

Manchester United are on the hunt for a striker this summer and recently, Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund has emerged as the club’s leading transfer target.

Hojlund has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for several months after a breakthrough campaign in Serie A and there have been encouraging reports that it could be on the cards.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that Hojlund had even agreed personal terms with United over a move, hinting that an agreement with Atalanta could be worked on.

Now, there are more encouraging signs that Atalanta may be preparing for life without their star striker. According to French outlet L’Equipe, via Football Espana, Atalanta are set to sign El Bilal Toure from Spanish outfit Almeria.

As per the report, Toure is set to sign a five-year contract with the Italian giants and Almeria are set to receive a transfer fee in excess of €20m – a sum Atalanta are unlikely to pay for a reserve player.

Hojlund remains an Atalanta player and as things stand, he will report back to Bergamo for pre-season training but Ten Hag will be keen for that to change sooner rather than later.

Last year, the Dutchman only had one new signing on the plane for their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia. This year, Mason Mount is the only confirmed signing but there are positive signs in their pursuit of Andre Onana.

Ten Hag will be desperate to have both Mount and Onana on the plane to the United States and adding Hojlund would be the cherry on top.
