Fabrizio Romano: Inter Milan open talks with Andre Onana replacement

Inter Milan have reportedly opened talks with Bayern Munich goalkeeper Yann Sommer, who could replace Andre Onana should the Cameroon international join Manchester United.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan are now in negotiations with the Swiss goalkeeper, with the Bayern stopper on their list alongside Anatolij Trubin.

Romano understands Inter could invest in both if Onana joins United, and we’ve even seen United linked with two keeper acquisitions.

Inter had identified Sommer as a target last January and he wants to move to Milan, so it doesn’t look like they will struggle to navigate the goalkeeper market without bumping into David de Gea. The Spaniard’s deal expired last Friday at midnight but further talks are expected with United.

Hopefully United can get a deal over the line for Onana soon because it would be a huge disadvantage if we go on tour not knowing who will be our no.1 keeper next season.

Most fans seem convinced that Onana is the best available in the market, and I think we already know Ten Hag believes that is the case. Otherwise he wouldn’t be keen to reunite with him in the Premier League.

Interestingly, Sommer was linked with a move to United after Ten Hag joined the club. You can tell by that Inter will look for someone of a similar profile to Onana albeit knowing they won’t find anyone better.
