Casemiro was over the moon to see Lisandro Martinez return to training.
Martinez was back at Carrington for the first time in over eight weeks yesterday, as he closes off on a lengthy rehabilitation period.
The Argentinian sustained a metatarsal injury during Manchester United’s Europa League tie with Sevilla back in April and was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the 2022/2023 campaign.
It came as a huge blow for the club as the impact Martinez had across his first season in England was astounding; he was irreplaceable in the starting 11 and became an instant fan favourite for his passion, determination and efforts on the pitch.
He revitalised the Red Devils’ backline and formed a formidable partnership with Raphael Varane, though Martinez compliments any centre-back he’s deployed alongside.
His return to action is now looming, as he’s expected to be fit in time for United’s first pre-season tour fixture on July 12 against Leeds United.
Martinez shares final fitness update
The defender shared an update to his Twitter account yesterday saying: “So happy to be here!” along with a picture of Carrington’s welcome sign.
Casemiro then responded: “He’s back!”
He's back! 💪🏽😍💪🏽
