Bayern Munich have lodged a formal offer for Harry Kane, as exclusively confirmed by The Athletic this morning.
The bid is for a reported €70 million plus add-ons as they look to finally replace the prolific Robert Lewandowski, after a season in which they struggled to make up for his scintillating goalscoring abilities.
Now, they’ve identified Kane as the suitable successor. He boasts all-time top goalscorer status for both Tottenham Hotspur and England, and is currently 47 goals away from matching Alan Shearer’s Premier League record of 260 goals.
Kane’s links with United
Kane, 29, has just one year remaining on his contract in North London and has been heavily linked with Manchester United, though they reportedly ended their interest due to Daniel Levy’s reluctance to sell.
Bayern’s proposal is far from Levy’s £100m+ valuation, however, the striker may push for the move in a bid to secure that all-elusive silverware that could well be granted in his first season in Germany.
The Spurs chairman was also unwilling to sell to a Premier League rival, so may be more inclined to sanction a transfer to the reigning Bundesliga champions.
