Manchester United are undecided on Amad Diallo’s destination for the 2023/2024 season.

The Ivorian will return to Carrington in the coming weeks ready for a crucial pre-season tour in which Erik ten Hag will determine a plan for young members of the squad.

Amad spent last term on loan with Sunderland, playing a pivotal role in their sixth-placed finish and journey to the play-off semi-finals. He finished the campaign as the club’s top goalscorer with 13 Championship goals to his name.

Now, Ten Hag must make a decision on the 20-year-old’s potential involvement in the first team. Having made 32 starts for the Black Cats under Tony Mowbray, Amad won’t want to spend the season sat on the bench and only being granted short cameos. Game time is necessary for his development to continue at the fast pace it has been growing.

Amad wants Sunderland return

According to Fabrizio Romano, Amad would prefer to return to the Stadium of Light if United opt to send him on another loan move after the summer.

Mowbray would certainly welcome him back, as would the fans, as the connection that the youngster made with supporters on Wearside clearly had a lasting impact on him.
