Manchester United are mulling over an approach for Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco, as per the Independent

The report states that the Red Devils have spoken to Inter, along with Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Dimarco would occupy the role currently filled by both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, with the former seen as the more favourable option due to his experience and creative threat.

However, the 25-year-old’s versatility has caught Erik ten Hag’s attention. Despite being regularly deployed at left-back for the Serie A club, the Dutch manager believes he can use the player in a few different ways as he seeks to deepen the variability and speed of his squad next season”.

As well as that, Shaw has proven that he is more than capable to drop into a left centre-back role when needed, freeing up space on the left flank for the likes of Dimarco.

The Italy international is on the back of a standout campaign, having won the Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana and reached the Champions League final.

Across the 2022/2023 season, he made 50 appearances, scoring six and assisting 10 goals.
