Paul Pogba claims Juventus showed him more love than Manchester United

Paul Pogba has endured a nightmare return to Juventus after he joined the Turin club for a second spell following the expiry of his contract at Manchester United last year.

Pogba departed Old Trafford on a free transfer during Erik ten Hag’s first summer in charge of the club but the grass has not been greener for the Frenchman.

His first season back in Serie A has been plagued by injuries and he also missed the entirety of France’s World Cup campaign. To rub salt in his wounds, Juventus ended the campaign outside the Champions League places.

Speaking recently, he has commented on some of the logistics behind his high-profile return to Juventus, indicating why he decided to make the move from United.

He also explained why he returned to United in the first place seven years ago, admitting that he felt he had unfinished business after leaving four years prior.

“I went back to Manchester because I hadn’t finished my work there,” Pogba told Views, via UtdDistrict.

“I said to myself: ‘I really want to play with the A’s (the first team)’. I did it and it was a goal achieved for me. We have already won, not the Premier League, but titles that Manchester have not won for a long time.

“And I came back to Juve, why? Because it’s really the club that helped me push myself. And really the love from the fans, the love from the club that I get, I didn’t get that in Manchester. I was quite surprised when I came back to England, already with the transfer I was given a label. It was quite sad.

“But it’s two clubs that I really love, that made me grow and I can only say thank you to these two clubs. Maybe I could have gone to other clubs, but it was my heart that chose those clubs and I often follow my heart.”

Pogba’s six-year stay at the club was also plagued by injuries and he never managed to create a bond with the supporters, as he points out in the interview.

United moved quick to replace him when he left the club last summer, with summer signings Casemiro and Christian Eriksen filling his boots with ease.
