Zidane Iqbal expected to leave Manchester United this summer

Zidane Iqbal impressed Erik ten Hag on pre-season tour last year, and the 20-year-old was kept at the club for the entire season despite not making a single senior appearance.

One could understand Iqbal wanting to leave United — whether it’s on loan or permanently — because he possesses a lot of ability and that will go to waste if he’s only getting game time with the U21s. It’s time for him to kick on.

Furthermore, Iqbal was an unused substitute on 17 occasions for the first team last term, but hopefully he learned something from training with the first team.

According to Manchester World, Iqbal sees his immediate future away from United and the club are willing to let him leave this summer.

It is understood that a departure on loan is more likely, although a permanent switched cannot be ruled out at this stage.

United also have another young talented midfielder coming through in Kobbie Mainoo, who will be hoping to push for minutes in the first team during the 2023/24 campaign.

The reason United didn’t allow Iqbal leave in January was probably down to the dire injury situation. At that point in the season, we had lost Scott McTominay, Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek to injury.

  1. It will be insane to allow Zidane Iqbal make a permanent move away from Manchester United. I would suggest they send him out on loan for one year. The young lad is multi talented. Same with Pellistry and Hannibal Meijbri. These can form the bedrock of future Manchester United.

    1. Agreed. United should move Donny and McTominay out instead. This will create opportunities for Iqbal, Pellestri, etc to come in.
There are alot of young talents in there….we supporters want to see them grow into the first team and win trophies. This will really make everybody associated woth the club proud…and the rest of the clubs envy !

  2. I still don’t understand why this lad wasn’t accorded even a whiff of game time in senior colours.i guess EtH knows better.it’ll be a pity if & he turns world class elsewhere.

  3. One of the best talent that ETH not used even ones, pitty to him. he would be better if get some minutes. I hope he can play elsewhere for his future. Let him leave with buy back clause.
