Erik ten Hag outlines Bundesliga star as potential Jadon Sancho replacement after substandard campaign

Jadon Sancho’s substandard form could force Manchester United to sanction the arrival of a new left-winger.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, which confirms the Red Devils’ interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby.

Whilst adding a new winger is not a priority for the club, Sancho’s contributions, or lack thereof, may lead to United signing an alternative to bolster the position, with their other left-sided attackers less experienced in the top-flight.

Diaby mooted as Sancho alternative

Diaby has subsequently been mooted as an option for the summer transfer window.

He picked up 14 goals and 11 assists in 48 appearances across the 2022/2023 campaign, whereas Sancho tallied seven goals and three assists in 41 outings. The France international was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season.

Leverkusen have added a price tag of around £65 million for the 23-year-old, who has previously been linked with Arsenal and Newcastle United.

However, Erik ten Hag’s summer action is being hindered by the ongoing takeover delay regarding United’s potential new ownership, so a bid is unlikely to be submitted in the near future.
