Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a surprise move for Manchester United captain Harry Maguire following a recommendation from Harry Kane.
It doesn’t come as a surprise that Maguire is being linked with moves to other Premier League clubs since the 30-year-old is widely expected to leave Old Trafford in the summer.
The decision will come down to Maguire, who has two years left on his current deal, as to whether he wants to leave in search of regular first-team football. Otherwise he runs the risk of losing his place in the England squad.
The Telegraph believe Tottenham are mulling over a move for the centre-back.
The report states: “The Spurs interest in Maguire is in no way linked to United’s desire to sign Kane and there is no suggestion of the potential for each player to move in opposite directions as part of the same deal.”
It is also suggested that Tottenham’s interest in Maguire could be seen as a potential move to keep Kane since the striker previously recommended his England team-mate to the club.
Maguire, 30, had a decent start to life at United after his move to Leicester City – but he’s been underwhelming for two years now.
That’s why Erik ten Hag was quick to replace him in the starting line-up following Lisandro Martinez’s arrival, however, he also slipped behind Victor Lindelof in the defensive pecking order this season.
Tottenham need to strengthen defensively and a good starting point would be finding a partner for Cristian Romero.
Let us know if you think a move to Tottenham makes sense for Maguire.

So, Levy will sign an underperforming, aging star in a lame attempt to keep Kane at N17? I guess we’re looking to finish 10th next season.
