Nottingham Forest are making progress in their attempts to sign Dean Henderson on a permanent deal.
The 26-year-old England international spent last season on loan at the City Ground, making 20 appearances in all competitions before his season ended prematurely by a thigh injury in January.
Henderson’s contract at United runs until the summer of 2025, and the club has the option of extending that by a further year.
The latest update from transfer specialist, Fabrizio Romano, suggests Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks to sign Henderson on a permanent deal.

On top of that, Henderson is close to agreeing personal terms.
There is a twist in the tale, though. Romano believes United will wait to give Henderson a final green light until David de Gea signs a new deal.
David de Gea yet to secure Manchester United future
De Gea is out of contract this summer – but reports suggest the Spaniard has been offered a new deal on a smaller salary, as per The Athletic.
The problem is nothing has been signed off yet.
Erik ten Hag will not guarantee De Gea will be the club’s No.1 next season, so the player has to decide whether he’s willing to risk falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
United need to sign a new goalkeeper regardless of who stays. FC Porto’s Diogo Costa is a popular shout among fans on social media.
