Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka’s situation amid uncertainty over his future with the German giants.
Goretzka is under increasing pressure from supporters following a challenging campaign under Julian Nagelsmann and Thomas Tuchel and the club’s interest in a new defensive midfielder may hurt his chances of playing regularly next season.
Goretzka has been the subject of repeated links to United over the last couple of years but the 28-year-old signed a five-year contract in 2021, of which he has three years remaining.
Now, amid the uncertainty over his role with the Bavarian powerhouse, it is being claimed that a move to United could once more be on the table.

That’s according to German reporter Florian Plettenberg, as seen above, who claims that United are monitoring Goretzka’s situation amid Bayern’s interest in West Ham star Declan Rice.
As per the report, United are aware that Bayern’s interest in Rice affects Goretzka’s future but as things stand, there are no talks with the club or the player’s entourage.
Additionally, Goretzka seems to have made his mind up already as he is completely intent on staying at the Allianz Arena.
SN’s verdict…
There were similar reports in 2021 but those suggestions were angled differently as Goretzka eventually leveraged his way towards a new contract.
United are fairly advanced in a deal to sign Mason Mount and it is highly unlikely that the club will be able to set aside enough money to sign a player like Goretzka when there are other areas Erik ten Hag will be prioritising.
