Real Madrid are set to test the waters as they plot a move for Tottenham Hotspur goalscorer Harry Kane.

It was announced this morning that Real Madrid will be losing Karim Benzema, 35, this summer and we all know they’ll be in the market to sign the best replacement available.

The problem for Manchester United is we’re also in the market for an elite-level goalscorer, and you could tell after the Benzema announcement that there would be talk of Los Blancos moving for the England captain.

Every report indicates that Kane is our primary target and missing out on him could send Erik ten Hag to an unwanted list of alternatives. And, no, we cannot entertain any Benzema links before they start.

The Independent have published a detailed report on the Kane situation, courtesy of Miguel Delaney, who reports Real Madrid are looking at a move for Kane this summer.

There are some doubts as to whether Madrid can fully convince Kane to join them, with the player having a preference to stay in England in order to break the Premier League goalscoring record.

It doesn’t help that Daniel Levy is sticking to his hardline stance of not allowing Kane to join another Premier League club, even though he risks losing him on a free next year…

Levy apparently still wants £200m for Kane – which only sounds like a figure he’d demand from United. We are sure he would happily sell for less to Madrid.

The Daily Mail believe Madrid will test the waters with a £100m bid.

It’s a difficult situation for United and the manager needs clarity over the ownership situation too.

  1. If we could get £100m for Kane I’d take it all day. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a fantastic player but he’s going to hit 30 this year and his value is only going down, selling him, Ndombele, LoCelso, Winks, Dier, Sanchez, Davies and then getting to wages of Moura and Lloris off the books we could have a sizeable war chest to rebuild along with the money Levy and Lewis put up that is. It wouldn’t be far off £300m to spend on some decent players for a change, as long as Levy is kept away from the recruitment.
Even if this were to occur, I still want Levy, Lewis & ENIC out.
