Ajax’s Jurrien Timber was in attendance at Wembley for the FA Cup final on Saturday.
Erik ten Hag has long-admired the Dutch centre-back, with whom he worked throughout his time in Amsterdam.
Timber lifted the Eredivisie title twice under Ten Hag, as well as the KNVB Cup.
He signed a new deal last summer with the club despite speculation that he would follow his former manager to Manchester, with the Reds holding “concrete interest” in overseeing a deal.
After opting to commit to the club for another season, he is now being linked yet again with a move away following a substandard campaign with Ajax under now-sacked coach Alfred Schreuder.
Given that Ten Hag is reportedly scouring the market for a new centre-back, chances are he will reignite interest in his former protegee.

The 21-year-old may also be swaying towards a switch to Old Trafford, as he took the time to travel to England and watch the Red Devils in their cup final.
