Erik ten Hag confirms Antony is unlikely to be fit for the FA Cup final against Man City.
It looks like Antony’s season is over with the Brazil international unlikely to feature in Saturday’s FA Cup final against Man City.
Antony came off on a stretcher in the first half of United’s 4-1 win over Chelsea last Thursday and it sounds like he will pay the price of missing out on a cup final.
Speaking to reporters ahead of United’s trip to London, Ten Hag said it’s unlikely that Antony will feature.
“Unlikely,” Ten Hag said, as per the Manchester Evening News. “Antony still [has] a chance but a really small chance. He didn’t make progress, so he still has a chance but unlikely he is available.”
Another player who won’t be travelling to London is Anthony Martial. The striker sustained a hamstring injury in the final game of the season against Fulham, therefore, goes down as one of the least surprising sick notes.
When asked about Martial, Ten Hag added: “These questions, so many times from the media about absence of players in the last couple of months and every time I say the same answer: it is about the players who are available and many times we were successful.
“So we have a good squad and from the good squad we make a good team.”
