Declan Rice’s dad holds transfer discussions with Manchester United

For a long time Declan Rice was touted as a Manchester United target. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was manager when he was initially identified as a possible midfield option and it sounds like the interest remains under the astute guidance of Erik ten Hag.

West Ham fansite Claret and Hugh claim Declan Rice’s dad, Sean, is currently the busiest football agent in Britain as he bids to push through a big move for his son from the Hammers.

It is believed West Ham made a gentleman’s agreement with Rice’s dad that Declan could leave in the summer of this year assuming a suitable offer was made by another club.

While Arsenal are best positioned to sign Rice this summer, the latest from Claret and Hugh suggests United have started doing groundwork on a potential deal for the England international.

A report reads: “Sean — we are told — has talked with Manchester United who continue to monitor the position and Sky report that Bayern Munich’s Thomas Tuchel has allegedly spoken to Declan.”

Rice’s dad is a season ticket holder at Chelsea, but surely his son is pushing for a move to a team that will be playing Champions League football next season.

That’s why I think United stand a chance on the Rice front.

But it will be depend on whether Ten Hag has the money available to spend big on two midfield signings because it feels like it’s only a matter of time before Mason Mount becomes a United player.

  1. If Rice is the answer, the question must be: Which West Hm player is way too good for Plastic United, and would never go there in a million years?

  2. Mount and Rice have been best mates for years. They have always wanted to play in the League together, and with the Mount signing looking likely, adding Rice might be possible. To have Mount and Rice learn from Eriksen and Casemiro, that would be amazing. Adding Kane and Hojlund, and finally Pavard. I think those 5 outfield signings make us the 2nd best team in Europe (and also in Manchester)
