Alessia Russo named fans’ Player of the Year

Manchester United hosted their end-of-season awards on Monday night.

Alessia Russo collected the women’s team award for Player of the Year, which was voted for by the fans after watching her score an impressive 12 goals this season for Marc Skinner’s side.

The Lioness also picked up the award for Goal of the Season for a winner against Arsenal in November.

Unfortunately for United and Russo, her future is up in the air at the moment and there’s a chance this could be a departing gift.

Meanwhile, the Players’ Player of the Season award was won by Hannah Blundell.

It was an impressive season for the women’s team as they qualified for the Champions League and pushed Chelsea all the way for the WSL title until the last day of the season.

When it came to the men’s team, however, Marcus Rashford took home the fan voted Player of the Year and the Player’s Player of the Year awards.

New signing Antony collected the award for best goal of the season for his strike against Barcelona in the Europa League.
