Ten Hag provides damning injury verdict on Antony just nine days ahead of FA Cup final

Erik ten Hag has provided an injury update on both Antony and Luke Shaw.

Antony sustained an injury in the first half of Manchester United’s 4-1 win over Chelsea after a tackle from Trevoh Chalobah left him down on the floor and forced to receive treatment, though after several minutes he was deemed unfit to carry on and left the pitch on a stretcher. The Brazilian looked inconsolable when exiting down the tunnel.

As for Luke Shaw, he was replaced by Tyrell Malacia at half time, with Sky Sports commentators later confirming he had felt a slight back injury.

Erik ten Hag was questioned on the pair’s issues by Jamie Redknapp post-match and he responded (via Football Daily): “It’s difficult to say. Let’s wait for 24 hours and then we’ll know more.”

However, regarding Antony’s injury, he later added (as per Samuel Luckhurst): “I can tell you that it’s serious. We have to wait 24 hours to see the status of his injury.”

With the FA Cup final just nine days away, this will come as a huge concern and blow for Ten Hag to see potentially two of his most in-form and utilised players ruled out of the match.
