Erik ten Hag gives team news ahead of trip to Bournemouth, including doubts over Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford is a doubt for Manchester United’s final away game of the season at Bournemouth.

The Manchester United forward missed last week’s win against Wolves due to injury.

Rashford was spotted at Carrington for training during the week but Erik ten Hag has confirmed that he is a doubt for the Bournemouth match after falling ill.

Ten Hag couldn’t confirm whether Scott McTominay would return to the squad on Saturday, although the Scotland international has resumed training after a five-week absence.

On another note, Raphael Varane suffered no setbacks after his first appearance in four weeks against Wolves. The Frenchman is expected to start the game alongside Luke Shaw at centre-back.

Speaking to reporters at his pre-match press conference, Ten Hag provided a a team update. He said (via Manchester Evening News): “So a positive: we have Varane definitely available, Scott joined in training. When final training goes well he will be in.

“Also Rashy trained the whole week but today he reported he doesn’t feel well, so he’s ill. We have to see how he recovers during the day and see tomorrow.”

With three league games remaining, United need to win two matches to secure their place in the top four. It will be a blow to be without Rashford again this weekend.

Maybe it’s time to bring Alejandro Garnacho back into the starting line-up…
