Matteo Darmian praises impact of Manchester United after reaching Champions League final

Former Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian believes the Red Devils helped him to become the player he is now

Darmian spoke to Sky Sports after Inter Milan’s semi-final win over AC Milan: “I’m very happy today, the feeling is great because we reached the final, and it’s not easy.

“That’s why we have to be happy and think about the next game, and we will prepare for the final.

“I have to thank them [United] because if I’m that kind of player and person, it’s also because of them.”

The 33-year-old arrived at Old Trafford in 2015 and made 92 appearances for the club.

In 2019, he returned to Italy after joining Parma but has since moved on to better things at Inter Milan.

At United, the Italian full-back won the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League.

Now he is playing a key role in a side that has reached the Champions League final in Istanbul, where they will face Man City.
