Declan Rice makes admission after 1-0 win over Manchester United

Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham last night. It came as another blow to our top four chances, but Declan Rice was quick to claim that the Hammers had highlighted this fixture as one they could take points from.

An error from David de Gea gave West Ham the lead in London on Sunday night and the Red Devils were unable to respond.

However, after the match Rice was quick to get a dig in.

“We had our eye on this game as one we could win, at home with the fans,” Rice told BT Sport. “The lads gave everything today and it was a thoroughly deserved win.

“I think that’s probably our best performance at home this season. We played on the front foot, aggressive, being comfortable one vs one, on the ball, just everything today, it was a positive performance.

“As a player, the whole world are watching these games. It’s what it’s about, you’re against Man United and today we did it.”

While United remain in the top four, the gap to Liverpool in fifth is just one point and we really need to start winning matches again.

United need three wins from four to clinch a top four place and our next fixture is at home at Wolves.

The biggest problem I had watching the game last night was that it looked a bit like last season… when we were one of the easiest teams in the Premier League to play against. However, I can understand it if Brighton play us off the pitch, but not when it’s West Ham.
