Erik ten Hag provides United injury update with Raphael Varane boost

Manchester United have been handed a boost with the news that Raphael Varane is expected to return before the end of the season.

This means there’s a great chance that Varane will be fit to face Man City in the FA Cup final on June 3.

However, Erik ten Hag has confirmed that the French defender will not be available for United’s next two matches against Brighton and West Ham.

Much like Alejandro Garnacho, who is recovering from injury, the upcoming matches this week have come too soon for Varane.

There appears to be some doubts over whether Scott McTominay will play again this season. We’ll have to wait for further updates on the Scotland international.

“Prognosis: Rapha is closer than Scott McTominay in this moment but still for the coming two games they are not available,” Ten Hag said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

“We have one training but I think it’s too soon (for Garnacho) to be available, but I think he’s short, he needs some training and then shortly he’ll be available.”

Varane could return for United on May 13 when the Reds take on Wolves, who are hovering above the relegation zone.

But at least it sounds like we’ll have Varane and Garnacho for the FA Cup final!
