Erik ten Hag hails United players for brilliant week after 1-0 win over Aston Villa

It goes without saying that it has already been an incredible season for Manchester United. Top four is within reach, we’ve got an FA Cup final to look forward to and the Carabao Cup is already in the bag.

Manchester United made a lot of progress over the past few months under Erik ten Hag, and it has been a busy season for the Dutchman.

In the span of eight days, United reached the FA Cup final and further cemented a Premier League top four spot. Sunday’s hard fought 1-0 win over Aston Villa was deserved and Ten Hag believes it capped off “a brilliant week” for the Reds.

“This question I think to have to wait until it’s done,” Ten Hag said when asked if it had already been a brilliant season for the club, as quoted by TimesLive“We have to keep going, from game to game, but I think this is a brilliant week for us.”

It took a penalty shootout to book our place in the FA Cup final, beating Brighton 7-6, but Ten Hag had reason to be critical of his team days later when they threw away a 2-0 lead away at Tottenham.

Ten Hag was pleased with how his players responded against Villa.

“When you are in a semi-final in a tough game against a good opponent we have seen in the week, we played a very good game to get through to the final,” the Dutchman added.

“And then Tottenham, we played the first half very well. And today we played two halves, I think an impressive game. So big credits to the team.”
