Sheikh Jassim prepares final offer to buy Manchester United

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani is expected to lodge an improved third bid of less than £5bn for Manchester United by Friday’s 10pm deadline.

The offer is less than the Glazer’s apparently asking price of £6bn, which means the American family would have to settle for less if they are to agree terms with the Qatari consortium led by Sheikh Jassim.

The Qatari banker wants a full takeover but he’s apparently unwilling to pay more than what he – and his partners – believe United is worth.

According to The Guardian, Sheikh Jassim’s final offer will be more than £1bn below the American family’s asking price.

Meanwhile, Miguel Delaney believes that the Glazers want £7bn.

It is believed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe will rival this bid – but it remains to be seen if he really has the money to compete with the Qatari.

A third option may be that one or more of the Glazers remain, with an investment firm coming in to inflict even more misery on fans.

Carlyle Group are one of the hedge funds said to be interested in taking a partial ownership in the club.

It needs to be a full sale as far as we’re concerned. We don’t want the Glazers anywhere near United.
