As the news was confirmed, Alejandro Garnacho told club media via Manchester United:
“When I joined this incredible club, I dreamt of achieving my debut, playing at Old Trafford, scoring my first goal and winning trophies with this badge on my chest.
“I feel very proud and emotional to have experienced these moments already, together with my family who have supported me every step of the way.
“We are all humbled to have this chance to continue our journey at Manchester United and I have already begun to work on achieving the next set of targets and ambitions.
“The manager and his coaching staff have helped me to improve in every way, and with their support, I am developing each day to help the team to be successful.
“I am relishing the future and can’t wait to create more special memories with this group, in front of our amazing supporters.”

Alejandro Garnacho’s new contract – Like a new signing
Spine of the next great United team?
This signing is a statement of intent by Manchester United and shows a lot of trust in Erik Ten Hag’s project. For years, United have had to resort to overpaying for talent and selling under-performers at huge losses.
In Garnacho, the club have arguably a top-10 attacking wunderkind in world football in their ranks. With the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Lisandro Martinez entering their footballing prime, backed up by young talents like Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo, and more, Garnacho could be a part of the spine of the next great United team.
In the short term, his focus would be on returning to playing after an extended period out due to injury. Despite Argentina’s best efforts, he looks set to stay at the club instead of going to the U20 World Cup.
Having Garnacho fit and firing for the crunch part of the season would come as a huge relief to Erik Ten Hag.
With FA Cup to fight for and a place in next season’s Champions League to secure, Garnacho can mark his new contract with some silverware. A sign of things to come? Manchester United fans would desperately hope so!
