Blow for Erik ten Hag as £40m ace is close to joining Real Madrid

Real Madrid are reportedly close to completing a deal to sign Celta Vigo starlet Gabriel Veiga following reports linking the Spaniard to Manchester United.

Veiga’s exploits for the Spanish club have caught the attention of several European clubs, with United said to be among those to be monitoring his progress in La Liga.

The midfielder has been the subject of intense speculation over the last couple of months and now, it looks like Real Madrid are set to win the race to sign him as they continue to stock their midfield.

Los Blancos have already added French duo Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga to their squad and now, Veiga looks set to join a talented trident at the Santiago Bernabeu.

That’s according to Spanish outlet Sport, who say that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez negotiated a deal with Celta Vigo that would see Veiga return to his boyhood club on a season-long loan.

The deal is thought to set Real Madrid back a whopping €40m after his release clause was met.
