Manchester United are into the FA Cup final after a highly dramatic semi-final at Wembley against Brighton and Hove Albion, with Roberto De Zerbi’s men taking the Reds all the way to penalties.

The two sides could not be separated over 120 minutes but United had enough chances to secure their passage into June’s final in the final 15 minutes.

It’s the perfect redemption for Erik ten Hag after the disappointing Europa League exit earlier this week and the Dutchman will be hoping to guide United to a second trophy of the season.

There were a number of impressive performers at Wembley but the defenders stood out, with Victor Lindelof, who has been much-maligned this season, stepping up to deliver the perfect performance.

David de Gea – 7
Made a number of good saves in regulation time. Kept United in the game at times. As we have all come to learn, his strong suit is not saving penalties.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 9
Completely removed Brighton winger Mitoma from the game. Surprisingly taken off at the end of the game but that might have been due to fatigue.

Victor Lindelof – 10
Arguably his best performance in a United shirt since he signed for the club six years ago. Hardly put a foot wrong and kept his nerves to fire United into the final with the decisive penalty.

Luke Shaw – 9
Three senior centre-backs were missing for this game and as he has done earlier this season, Shaw looked like he had been playing at centre-back for 10 years.

Diogo Dalot – 9
As the rest of the defence, a stunning defensive display from the Portuguese international.

Casemiro – 8
Looked to be in real danger of getting sent off with the way Craig Pawson was refereeing the game but stood his ground and protected United’s backline throughout.

Christian Eriksen – 6
Not his type of game as Brighton dominated possession.

Bruno Fernandes – 7
United’s engine but he didn’t get the ball at his feet as much as he would have liked. Surprisingly taken off with penalties looming.

Antony – 6
Decision-making in the final third was lacking. Still enjoying a good period in a challenging season.

Marcus Rashford – 6
Looks to have lost that spark in his step in recent weeks after his injury but hopefully that’s just a blip.

Anthony Martial – 6
The tip of United’s struggling frontline on the day.
