Erik ten Hag is confident that Manchester United can progress to the FA Cup final this Sunday despite their European exit last night.
The Red Devils offered one of their worst performances in recent years as they showed a lack of fight and ambition to go crashing out of the Europa League at the semi-finals stage.
At least two of the three Sevilla goals on the night can be put down to errors, perhaps even all three. Even still, United could not put a threatening attack together to save their lives throughout the 90 minutes.
Attention now switches to just FA Cup and Premier League action, with top four still not guaranteed at this stage in the campaign.
Sunday holds another trip to Wembley for the FA Cup semi-finals, in which the Red Devils take on an in-form Brighton and Hove Albion, whom they are winless against since last February.
Ten Hag believes his squad have it in them to get the job done, no matter how much fans’ confidence may have dropped after last night’s affairs.
Ten Hag wants reaction from players on Sunday
He said (via Mirror Football): “Sunday, we can do it. We have seen against [Nottingham] Forest and then we were composed. We had the desire and today we didn’t. So you can expect from a player, for Manchester United, from a team that they do it consistently. Now it’s too often that we have a really poor performance and it can’t be.”
