Christian Eriksen hails midfield partners at Manchester United

Christian Eriksen has enjoyed playing with Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes in midfield at Manchester United this season.

The Denmark international claims — as a trio — it is one of the best midfielders he has played in.

Manchester United have won 15, drawn two and lost none when they’ve had Eriksen, Casemiro and Fernandes in the centre of the pitch.

Sadly that won’t be the case tonight in Seville because Bruno Fernandes is suspended after picking up a yellow card for handball in the first leg at Old Trafford.

“Two very good football players,” Eriksen said of Casemiro and Fernandes, as per the Manchester Evening News. “For me, it is easy. For anyone, to fill in the extra gap between them, it has been easy.

“It has been good. I didn’t even know we had that many games without losing but that’s something in the future that we want to keep going.

“I think this midfield is one of the best I have been part of. Obviously, earlier I was a bit further up the pitch, more of a striker than a midfielder but still dropping down.

“I think midfield-wise, it’s probably one of the best I’ve been in. And missing Bruno tomorrow, like when I was away, someone had to pick my pieces up and tomorrow someone has to fill the gap that he leaves behind.”

If Eriksen can get the space against Sevilla that he had against Forest on Sunday, the game would be a walk in the park for the Reds. He was allowed to dictate play which is always a danger for the opponent.

Hopefully Eriksen can find a creative spark in United’s midfield without Fernandes’ help tonight.

Casemiro is another great player with an eye for a pass.
