Manchester United have reportedly made an approach for a new goalkeeper, despite making a breakthrough in David de Gea’s contract talks.
Reports on Tuesday indicated that Manchester United were edging closer to an agreement with David de Gea over a new contract.
The Spaniard is approaching the end of his current deal and could leave Old Trafford for free in 12 months’ time, so there’s no reason to panic over the availability of goalkeepers just yet.
With most of the terms believed to be finalised with the 32-year-old, United have been tipped to dip into the market and sign former Ajax shot-stopper Andre Onana.
Italian outlet Couriere dello Sport claim United are pursuing Inter Milan’s Onana, with the Serie A side reportedly wanting “no less than €40 million (£35m)’ for the Cameroon international.
Inter could need to make a big sale this summer to balance the books, and while it was thought that would be right-back Denzel Dumfries, his popularity has dropped in recent months.
In turn, clubs could look at Onana, who only joined Inter a year ago.
