Manchester United are unbeaten when Erik ten Hag deploys midfield trio

Manchester United are unbeaten when Erik ten Hag starts a midfield trio of Christian Eriksen, Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes.

The statistic was shared by Squawka following the Red Devils’ 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest yesterday evening, with United dominating the game from the first to the final whistle.

Casemiro returned to the starting line-up after serving his four-game suspension and he was certainly a welcome addition back to the team sheet.

Eriksen initially had been named as a substitute, as Ten Hag was seemingly hesitant to rush him back to action after his long recovery from injury, however, he was forced to replace Marcel Sabitzer just minutes before kick-off due to Austrian picking up a groin problem in the warm-up.

Fernandes excels in deeper role against Forest

Meanwhile, Fernandes has started in all but one game in all competitions this season. He was positioned in a deeper role alongside Eriksen and the pair controlled the midfield excellently throughout the match.

The trio are now unbeaten in 17 games together (15 wins and two draws), so Ten Hag will be keen to utilise them for the pivotal matches on the horizon for United.
