Lisandro Martinez shares positive injury and recovery update to supporters

Lisandro Martinez has provided an update on his recovery from his season-ending injury.

The defender fractured a fifth metatarsal in his right foot during Manchester United’s Europa League clash with Sevilla last Thursday. The issue left him unable to walk off of the pitch and he was instead carried to the sidelines by his Argentina teammates Gonzalo Montiel and Marcos Acuna, where he was then put on a stretcher and carried straight down the tunnel at Old Trafford.

It was later confirmed that Martinez’s injury setback would see him sidelined for the remainder of the season, which is the last thing any United fan wanted to hear, as he has undoubtedly been one of the Reds’ standout performers since he arrived.

However, his recovery is the most important thing, and he’s now taken the first step on his journey back to full fitness.

On Instagram this evening, Martinez shared a picture of himself post-surgery, captioned: “Everything went really well, thanks to God! Many thanks for all of your messages. Now focusing on the recovery.”
