Sevilla name Alex Telles in squad to face Manchester United

Manchester United are getting ready for their quarter-final tie against Sevilla in the Europa League, with Erik ten Hag hoping to guide his side to a third semi-final of the season.

United have already picked up the Carabao Cup this season and will face Brighton & Hove Albion in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, with potential passage into the final four in the Europa League extending a highly positive theme under Ten Hag.

The first leg of the tie will take place at Old Trafford later this week and there is added tension in the game as Alex Telles, who is on loan from United at the Andalusian club, has been named in their travelling squad for the game.

Telles is eligible to play against United and could follow in Diogo Dalot’s footsteps, with the Portuguese international featuring against United in the Europa League two years ago whilst on loan at AC Milan.

In recent weeks, Argentinian left-back Marcos Acuna has been preferred over Telles but it remains to be seen whether the 30-year-old is given the opportunity to feature against his parent club.

Jesus Corona, who joined the club from Porto in 2022, is not eligible to feature in the game and midfielder Papa Gueye will also miss the game.

Ten Hag could also be without some of his key stars, as there is little clarity on whether Marcus Rashfod will be available following the groin injury he sustained against Everton last weekend.

Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes are expected to start the game but both players run the risk of missing the return leg next week, with the pair both one yellow card away from a one-match suspension.
