After a string of poor performances, at least by the standards Manchester United have set this season, the Reds have recovered in stunning fashion to record back-to-back wins in the Premier League.

Brentford were dispatched earlier this week after Marcus Rashford’s first-half strike ensured a return to winning ways and now, Everton have comfortably been dealt with at the Theatre of Dreams.

The first half against Everton was arguably the best 45 minutes of this calendar year as United were relentlessly attacking Jordan Pickford’s net.

Somehow, United only managed to score one goal over the opening 45 minutes but they created enough chances to end the game then and there.

And United’s dominance on the pitch is reflected by the statistics. After the game, it has emerged that United’s electric first-half display broke a Premier League record this season.

According to OptaJoe, United managed a whopping 21 attempts in the first half, which is the most they have recorded in a single Premier League half since the 2003-04 season.

Additionally, it is the most shots any team in the Premier League side have managed in the first half of a league game this season, further confirming the joy United were having in the final third.

Ten Hag will have been disappointed to go into half-time just one goal to the good, with Rashford, Antony and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all spurning stunning opportunities.

Nevertheless, winning another game was the most important thing but a dominant victory does wonders for a team low on confidence.
