Everton manager Sean Dacha worked with Manchester United loanee Wout Weghorst at Burnley last season.

The former Burnley manager signed the Dutch striker in January 2022 after losing Chris Wood to Newcastle. He was brought to the Premier League after impressing at Wolfsburg, but he was still a very different type of striker to Wood.

“He’s a very good player,” Dyche told reporters, speaking at his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “He worked very hard, [he’s] very professional and different managers look for different things.

“I certainly wouldn’t underestimate him as a player. I hope he is not such a good pro if he plays on Saturday!”

Weghorst was dropped from the starting line-up on Wednesday night, when Ten Hag opted to start Jadon Sancho instead. The former Besiktas forward performed poorly against Newcastle and lost his place in the team as a result.

In other words, Ten Hag opted for more creativity.

With Anthony Martial returning from injury, it remains to be seen if Weghorst will get another run in the team between now and remainder of the season. He has only two goals to his name since joining and none of those were in the Premier League.

We can expect a difficult game on Saturday. Everton are always up for it when it comes to facing United.
