Thomas Frank has been speaking to the media before Brentford’s trip to Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
The reserve fixture last August doesn’t bring back many happy memories as Manchester United suffered a surprise 4-0 defeat at the Gtech Community Stadium.
It was Erik ten Hag’s second Premier League match and United quickly turned things around after that point, kick-starting a winning run with a victory over Liverpool at Anfield.
However, with a top four finish within reach, United go into this game on the back of a 2-0 loss at Newcastle on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters, Frank said (via Irish Examiner): “We are potentially going into the most difficult game of the season, with everything taken into consideration.
“We are going away to the biggest away ground, with those fans, against a very good side that are much more stable.
“Erik ten Hag and his staff have done a very good job. They’ve just won their first trophy and they’re fighting for a Champions League spot.
“They lost (on Sunday) so they will want to bounce back. Plus, we beat them last time, so they’ll doubly want to bounce back. And they’re a very good team with top players.”
The Bees are in decent form as they sit seventh in the league, suffering only one defeat in their last 16 Premier League games — a run that stretches back to October.
Moreover, they drew with a decent Brighton side on Saturday.
United can’t underestimate Brentford and they should be looking for revenge after the humiliation we suffered against them at the start of the season.
