The Manchester United players likely to depart as Erik ten Hag plans summer clearout

Erik ten Hag is reportedly preparing to offload several Manchester United players at the end of the season in a bid to raise funds for new signings.

According to ESPN, the club are also aware that they need to navigate the financial fair play constraints.

The Dutch manager got his first transfer window near enough perfect last summer, with arrivals such as Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen proving to be pivotal in the club’s successes and form this term.

The likes of Antony and Tyrell Malacia have also been crucial additions to the setup as either starters or to provide rotation for other key players in their positions.

Which players could leave United?

ESPN’s report suggests that senior players like Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay have all garnered interest in either the Premier League or across Europe and given their lack of playing time, they could depart in summer.

Anthony Martial’s ongoing injury concerns, that have kept him sidelined for the majority of the campaign so far, could see his future as a Red under threat as the manager seeks a prolific No.9 to lead the forward line.

Similarly, loanees Eric Bailly, Alex Telles and Dean Henderson are expected to complete permanent moves away. The defenders’ positions have been bolstered by new additions and David de Gea looks set to remain the No.1 between the sticks at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future, so Henderson won’t be sticking around to play second fiddle.

Loan deals are likely for youngsters Facundo Pellistri, Anthony Elanga and Brandon Williams.
