Manchester United plan to accelerate contract talks with Marcus Rashford

Manchester United know it’s a priority to get Marcus Rashford tied down on a long-term contract.

The Reds triggered a one-year extension in Rashford’s contract in December, with the England international’s current deal now set to expire in 2014.

When news broke about the extension we were all under the impression that it was to buy some time to allow United negotiate fresh terms with the academy graduate.

So, it comes as no surprise that United are working hard to get Rashford to sign a new contract. ESPN claim the club are planning to step up contact talks with the player before the end of the season.

Rashford will be likely told by his representatives to hold fire on signing anything until they see how many goals he finishes on this season. If his tally for the season hits 40, they will have a stronger position at the negotiation table, but everyone already knows how important he is to the team.

After missing the recent international duty due to injury, United fans will be hoping that Rashford is fully fit to take on Newcastle this weekend.

Surely it’s only a matter of time before Rashford signs a new contract?
