Manchester United discuss potential deal for Wolves star after Barcelona cool interest

Barcelona cool their interest on Ruben Neves and reports in Spain state Manchester United are working on a deal to sign the Portugal international.

According to Sport (H/t Sport Witness), United are negotiating a deal to sign Neves this summer.

It’s claimed that Barcelona, who had previously been frontrunners in the race to sign the Portugal international, have now cooled interest.

This is because they are unsure after fans were divided over whether they want to see the club sign Neves or not.

In turn, reports in Spain suggest this has paved way for United to launch a pursuit for the 26-year-old, with Erik ten Hag eager to sign new midfielders in the summer.

The report explains the Wolves midfielder is ‘already negotiating what could be his transfer to Manchester United’ in the summer. Of course, this isn’t Neves’ first time being linked with a move to The Reds after establishing himself as one of the most consistent midfielders in the Premier League.

It is believed that Barcelona chief Joan Laporta reached an agreement with Neves’ agent, Jorge Mendes, for a transfer but this deal won’t materialise.

Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool could enter the race for Neves’ signature.

Neves is under contract at Wolves until 2024 and Sport believe he may end up at Old Trafford.
