Manchester United bidders waiting on update from Raine Group

Those interested in buying Manchester United are waiting on a new update from the Raine Group, although it is believed the revised offers made last week fall short of the Glazer family’s valuation.

Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are said to be fronting the race to buy Manchester United. There are thought to be other bidders too, including Finnish entrepreneur Thomas Zilliacus.

According to ESPN, all bids remain below the £6 billion asking price to buy the football club, which would make it the biggest ever deal for a sports club. Even the current bids of around £4.5m would make that a reality but the Glazers are not leaving without a fight.

The American family want bigger offers tabled first.

Rob Dawson claims bidders are waiting to hear from Raine Group, the U.S. bank advising the Glazers on the potential sale, on what the next stage of the process will look like.

Dawson reports: “Raine could invite a third round of offers or name a preferred bidder.”

Furthermore, United staff have been told to expect ‘clarity’ on the ownership situation by the end of the season, which is two months away.

Sources from the club add that it’s still “business as usual” and that Ten Hag is keen to build on the process his team have made by signing a top-class striker before the pre-season tour of the United States.

The tour kicks off in July and Ten Hag wants his centre-forward with the squad so he can fully prepare with the team before the 2023/24 campaign begins.
