Ralf Rangnick comments on Marcel Sabitzer’s boost in confidence amid Manchester United loan

Ralf Rangnick admitted Marcel Sabitzer’s loan move to Manchester United have given him a confidence boost.

The central midfielder scored a brace in Austria’s 4-1 win over Azerbaijan in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

On loan at Manchester United from Bayern Munich, Sabitzer has been adjusting to life in the Premier League, and many fans wouldn’t be against the idea of keeping him beyond this season.

Former United interim boss, Rangnick — now in charge of the Austria national team — has spotted a marked difference in Sabitzer.

Rangnick told Laola1“Sabi’s performance was outstanding, you can’t say it any other way. He is simply a player with a lot of quality. I think the change did him good. He is literally flourishing, is very, very good.

“He has a lot more confidence than when he was at Bayern. Nobody dropped out in this game, but of course you can say that Sabi was the difference player after scoring two goals and preparing one.”

Sabitzer celebrated his first United goal before the international break and scored a stunning free-kick for Austria midweek.

The midfield ace is expected to lead out his country against Estonia in another Euro 2024 qualifier on Monday. Then the focus turns to facing Newcastle in the Premier League on April 2.
