Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim seek takeover guarantees from Glazer family

It is believed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani’s second bids to buy Manchester United fall short of the Glazers’ £6 billion valuation on the club. A valuation that has raised eyebrows throughout the world.

According to The Mirror, both bids are understood to be more than £1 billion short of the asking price being demanded.

Furthermore it has been suggested that the two billionaires will now seek guarantees that the Americans definitely want to relinquish control at Old Trafford before taking the next steps required.

A source close to the situation told the newspaper: “There is a lot of confusion.

“It is not clear whether the Glazers are ready to sell or are simply using the process to get a valuation of the club on the open market to attract outside investment.”

With another round of bidding to be expected, I don’t think anyone expected one of the second bids to surpass that incredible figure, which is all part of the tactics being used by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim.

Of course, it remains to be seen if the Glazers will stand firm or lower their asking price.

  1. Typical Glazers, they are just money hungry. I don’t think they had any real interest in UTD. They just saw it as a big piggy bank for themselves. Sooner they go the better.
