Alexis Mac Allister will prioritise club project and coach over money when he leaves Brighton

The father of Alexis Mac Allister, Carlos, has commented on his son’s future after the Brighton star was linked with a Premier League switch to Manchester United.

After winning the World Cup with Argentina and being a key player in a Lionel Messi-inspired side, Mac Allister is set to look for a move in the summer and his father doesn’t shy away from that.

Carlos doesn’t speak disrespectfully about Brighton and stresses that they will not look for the most money when deciding his next club. Instead, they will evaluate the project on offer and look at whether the coach is the right fit.

He also tells ESPN Argentina (via Fabrizio Romano) that there are no concrete talks as of now:  “Clubs are starting to call us for Alexis but there are no concrete talks now.

“We’ll decide together with Brighton, they deserve respect. We will pick the best project, based on the coach too — it’s not about money.”

We don’t think Erik ten Hag will be anything but a pull factor for United when it comes to signing players in the summer. They will look at what he has done this season and how our new signings have performed in key roles to date.

Furthermore, Ben Jacobs recently told Caught Offside that Manchester United have held internal discussions over a potential summer move for Mac Allister, who is being touted as a £60m-rated player. Neither his father or his representatives are going to go into detail about this – or confirm anything – while there’s still a lot of football to play this season.

Mac Allister would be fine addition to any top Premier League side. He has shown throughout the season – for club and country – that he can play at the highest level. The central midfielder would bring a lot of energy to United’s midfield, but his range of passing would be an improvement on Fred.

We’re sure he will be aiming to knock United out of the FA Cup when Brighton take us on at Wembley in the semi-finals.
